Jaguar XK Kids Ride-Ons - Pedal and 6V Electric

At the moment, Toys Toys only make one Jaguar model for children - the XK. At Jaguar, XK has always stood for sports car and they have always used their sports cars to push technology forwards.

The 'XK' model is long-running, with the badge first appearing on the XK120 which was unveiled at the London Motor Show in 1948. Like the new XK, the very first XK120s had aluminium bodywork and although the production models reverted to steel bodies, they still had abundant performance - mainly thanks to the first appearance in production of the classic Jaguar six-cylinder, twin-cam XK engine and retention of lightweight aluminium closure panels.

In 1949 the XK120 justified its name, by topping 120mph in an official record run on the Jabbeke motorway in Belgium. Not only was it the fastest sports car of its day, it also started a golden era for Jaguar in sports car racing. For more on the XK's history, click here.

All our Jaguar ride-ons are fully licensed by Jaguar themselves with all the authentic badges, stickers and logos.

Why Should I Buy a Licensed Jaguar Ride On?

Licensed Jaguar ride-ons are designed and produced alongside Jaguar themselves, meaning the quality and durability has been well tested.

All our Jaguar riding toys have the same basic features:

  • Steel Chassis - can easily withstand a child jumping in and out.

  • Tough polyethylene bodywork - flexible and strong, avoids damage to the ride-on or furniture if there is a crash.

  • Deep injected paintwork - allows scratches to be buffed away easily.

  • Realistic alloy-like wheels.

  • UK based service centre and 1 year guarantee.

  • Authentic logos, badges and stickers.

  • Top quality European construction and design.

Age Suitability

The 3+ rating on Jaguar kids cars is based on safety reasons rather than ability or size. Our Jaguar ride ons are well designed, so will allow many 18 month olds to reach the pedals and steer. They will probably also amaze you with their ability after a short time. However a young child may lack the judgement to avoid a tree or might start chewing small parts and for this reason the manufacturers recommend various age guidelines. The parent ultimately controls the environment the Jaguar riding toy is used in and understands the child better than anyone else. The manufacturers can only offer guidelines and their recommendation is based on the average child.

Jaguar XK History

Article courtesy of Jaguar Enthusiasts. Please click here for the original.

1996 Jaguar XK8/R The Jaguar XK8 was an all new sports car from Jaguar, launched at the Geneva Motor Show on March 5th 1996. With an introductory price of £47,950 for the coupé and £56,850 for the convertible the car went on sale to the general public in October 1996.

Designed by the late Geoff Lawson (whose accomplishments also included the XJ220 and the XJ6 and XJ8 saloons), the XK8 was equipped with a naturally aspirated 4.0 litre, 290 hp aluminium V8 engine (the AJ-V8). The car was immediately considered a commercial success by enthusiasts and press alike.

Following on from the success of the XK8, two years later, on May 6 1998, Jaguar launched a similar looking but higher performance model known as the XKR. Little was done to the styling to differentiate the cars other than the addition of air vents on the bonnet and an air deflector on the boot.

2006 Jaguar XK

Jaguar unveiled an all-new 2006 car, called simply the “XK”, at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2005. Designed by Ian Callum, who also worked on the gorgeous Aston Martin DB9 and Vanquish, the new XK bares a striking resemblance to its Aston cousins. Offered as both coupe or convertible it was a direct replacement for the previous XK8 model.

The new XK’s body is an all-aluminium construction, giving the coupe a kerb weight of just 1595kg (1635kg for the convertible) whilst still maintaining best-in-class torsional rigidity.

It is powered by a 300 hp version of the 4.2 L AJ-V8 mated to a new Jaguar Sequential Shift 6-speed automatic transmission giving a 0-60 time of 5.9 seconds and completes the quarter mile sprint in 14.4 seconds (only half a second off the previous supercharged model).
